The Little Square Caller's Biography
I
started calling in 1969 in Vernal, Utah with Fred Brown about six weeks
after I
started dancing. I loved it. I called for about five years and was
finally able to attend a callers school with Marv Linder and he taught
me to
sight call. I have been working on
improving that technique for years. I
called in Vernal and surrounding states for about four years. I didn't call much for the next several
years until I moved to Monroe, Utah and organized a club there. That club danced until I moved in 1984.
I
returned to college to get a teaching degree and didn't call much until
1999
when I was invited to call in Price, Utah for the Coal Country Squares. I called for their club for nine years until
we left to serve a mission for the LDS Church in 2009.
I call for the Mavericks and the Electric
Squares here in Utah.
I
have called in all the Western States and at six National Conventions. I also had the privilege of calling at the
Australia National Convention in Wondonga, Australia in 2010. In 2003 I made a CD on my own and it has
sold quite a few copies. I have not
recorded with an official recording label.
I am married to a wonderful man, Dave Racine and he loves to travel with me and supports me in all I choose to do. I have five wonderful children who are all grown and married. I have 18 grandchildren who think their grandma is crazy when she dresses up in those 'funny' dresses and travels all over the country.
I love the square dance activity and the special people that I have met over the years. It has been a wonderful part of my life and I hope it will be for many more years.
